If you are experiencing issues with authorizing Google Drive in Canvas or unable to view Google docs shared by others in Canvas, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
Tier 1: Clear Browser Cache
If this does not fix the problem, follow the steps in Tier 2 below.
Tier 2: Disable “block third-party cookies”
Google Drive authorization issues may be related to your Chrome account preferences. One of the first things to try is to ensure that Chrome is not set to “block third-party cookies.”
- Launch Chrome. At the top right, click More (the three vertical dots ) > Settings.
- Click Privacy and security from the list on the left
- Click Cookies and Other Site Data.
- Disable Block third-party cookies.
If this does not fix the problem, follow the steps in Tier 3 below.
Tier 3: Re-register Google Drive service in Canvas
If the authorization issue persists after changing your Chrome preferences, you may need to re-register the Google Drive service.
1. Log into Canvas and click Account > Settings.
2. If Google Drive appears as a Registered Service, hover over the item and click the X and select OK to unregister the service.
3. If Google Drive LTI IAD-Prod is listed as an Approved Integration, click the Trash icon and click OK to delete the integration.
4. Navigate to a course and click Google Drive > Authorize.
If this does not fix the problem, follow the steps in Tier 4 below.
