This guide is designed to assist with recording a video using your mobile device's default Camera app and then uploading that video to Canvas Studio using the Canvas Student app which is available in your device's App Store (App Store on iOS or Play Store on Android devices). This guide covers iPhones and iPads as well as Android Smartphones and Tablets.
Please note: You can upload your video to your Studio library using the Canvas Student mobile app but you currently cannot embed videos into discussion posts using the mobile app. You must log into the student portal using your device's web browser and access Canvas by clicking on the My Classes link. If you are still unable to embed the video into your discussion post you must use a web browser on a computer to do so instead (Google Chrome is the recommended browser).
Part 1: iOS (iPhone and iPad)
Step 1: Locate the Camera app on your iPhone and tap to open it.
Step 2: Set the mode to VIDEO (Figure B-1) and tap the button to change the camera to the front-facing FaceTime camera (Figure B-2). Tap the red circle button to begin recording (Fig B-3). Record your video and tap the button again to stop recording (Figure C). It will automatically save the recording to your 'Photos Library'. To review your recording locate the video you just recorded in the 'Photos Library' (Figure D).
Part 2: Android OS (Smartphones and Tablets)
Step 1: Locate the Camera app on your device and tap to open it.
Step 2: Set the mode to VIDEO (Figure B-1) and tap the button to change the camera to the front-facing camera (Figure B-2).Tap the red circle button to begin recording (Figure B-3). Record your video and tap the button again to stop recording. Your video will automatically save the recording to your Photo Gallery. To review your video find and locate the Gallery app on your device and select the video (Figure C).
